Two of the most impressive ships supporting the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project are the Orion and Charybdis. The Orion is a heavy-lift vessel designed to carry and install wind turbine foundations and towers that weight thousands of tons. The Charybdis is the first U.S flagged offshore wind installation vessel of its kind. ​

Off the coast of Virginia Beach, 27 miles from the shore, 176 offshore wind turbines will transform ocean winds into clean energy. This is the largest offshore wind project in the United States and it will generate enough energy to power up to 660,000 homes. ​

Military Sealift Command (MSC), headquartered in Norfolk, is the powerhouse behind Navy operations around the world. Their mission is to deliver fuel, food, ammo, and supplies to keep the Navy and other military ships mission ready.
